I saw their review on Houston Chinese Restaurant Guide. I've since been back 4 or 5 times and I must say that they have worked all kinks out of the system, from the kitchen to the service. The food is quite good (Peking duck highly recommended), and the ambiance excellent. If you’re looking to make you taste buds smile and enjoy a great atmosphere, this is your place, but if you're looking for a bargain mean, try a Hungry Man in the frozen food department of your local grocery. Visit www.chinatownconnection.com/restaurant.htm for more restaurant reviews in Houston. So far i had met with moderate to poor results. I tried this place because i'm from New Orleans and find the best food in the small "hole in the wall" resturants. This place was much more than i expected. Not the greatest location or exterior for such a great resturant. The inside is kept very well and is nice decorated. The food on the otherhand was above and beyond the best chinese food I've had in Houston yet. I was so impressed with this resturant that it was the reason i created an account here so I could share my experience with you guys!

Chinese Restaurant in Houston Review

Q. What are some Chinese Restaurants in Houston you can suggest to a tourist?

A. Beijing Noodle Cafe
9888 Bellaire Blvd.
Houston, TX 77036
This newly opened restaurant in the heart of Chinatown has brought along with it mouth-watering Chinese dishes. I tried their veal dumplings and it has to be the best I have tasted. The freshly rolled flour surround the meat was perfect, not too thin and not to thick. The succulent taste of the veal meat was incredible. Together with the soy sauce, the (15) dumplings made it down in less than 10 minutes. Their beef noodle soup is perfect as well. Most places will put in tons of soy sauce in the soup creating too much saltiness and ruins taste. However, Beijing Noodle Cafe adds in the right amount and creates one of the best beef noodle soup in town. The restaurant carries over 50 dishes including family meals for 4, 6, or 8 people. Price is inexpensive as most dishes are under $5 for lunch and under $10 for dinner. Exceptional value and incredible food, Beijing Noodle Cafe is our newest addition to our Best of Chintatown Editor's Pick.

Lemongrass Cafe
5109 Bellaire Blvd
Bellaire, TX 77401
Lemongrass Cafe is a Thai fusion restaurant located in Bellaire. This is a restaurant I love to bring my good friends to when we need to catch up, because the environment is so conducive to chatting the night away. Some of my favorite dishes: Panko-crusted tofu (appetizer) - delectably crispy on the outside and oh-so-smooth on the inside. The special sauce complements everything perfectly. The presentation is beautiful. Pad Thai - their version of this Thai classic puts a little twist on it. You'll have to order it to see for yourself. The free bread with dipping sauce is great as well. And all of the desserts I've tried are wonderful. Vegetarian friendly - there are plenty of veggie choices here as well.
Nippon Japanese Restaurant
4464 Montrose Blvd Ste W
Houston, TX 77006
Tele: 713-523-3939
Nippon is located on Montrose just a little bit passed under the 59 bridge if coming from Hermann Park. Nippon offers quality Japanese food at a fair price and the regular lunch menu is about 7 dollars. Most of the lunch dishes comes with miso soup and Japanese style salad. Their katsu-don (fried pork rice) is one of the best lunch deals. Katsu-don comes in a traditional Japanese lunch box, which contains one large piece of fried pork chop and rice. On top of the pork chop, the delicious sweeten soy bean sauce is poured on top of the rice and the port chop. This meal also comes with a bowl of miso soup and Japanese salad. The salad is a great appetizer, with the Japanese style dressing (which taste a bit like the regular ranch dressing but a bit more sweet). Japanese food at its best earning Nippon Japanese Restaurant a spot on our list.

Golden Room Restaurant
1209 Montrose Boulevard
Houston, TX 77023
Tele: 713-524-9614
The service is friendly and the atmosphere is very charming. The owner is a delightful lady who is attentive to her customer's needs. My favor fishes are Garlic Chicken and Spicy Mint Chicken. The basil and chicken in the dishes make the taste simply irresistible and just want to keep coming back for more. I have not had a bad meal at Golden Room for the three years, and I strongly recommend this place for all you Thai food lovers.

Kubo's Sushi Bar & Grill
2414 University Blvd.
Houston, TX 77005
Tele: 713-528-7878
From after work happy hour to a romantic date, Kubo's great service and use of quality ingredients earned our editors pick. This Japanese restaurant is featured in numerous local publications. Excellent sushi's and Japanese dishes draws big weekend crowds to this full-service restaurant. Located in Rice village, Kubo is a perfect place to go before or after a day of shopping in Rice Village.

Thai Cottage
5124 Cedar Street Houston
Bellaire, TX
Tel: 713-838-0707
Thai Cottage is a very attractive restaurant. The atmosphere there is very cozy and relaxing. When you eat here, it almost feels like having a family dinner at home. Thai cottage has a lot of healthy, tasty vegetarian dishes and their ginger chicken, veggie crispy rolls and shrimp Spring Rolls are delicious. Also, do not forget to order the coconut milk drink and the famous Thai tea when you eat here. Thai cottage’s drink sizes are big compared to others and taste great. These drinks are especially good on a hot summer day. I strongly recommend this place, and I hope you will find Thai cottage’s dishes as attractive as I do.

Tan Tan Chinese Restaurant
6816 Ranchester
(at Bellaire Blvd. intersection)
Houston, TX 77036
Tele: 713-771-1268
Chinese-Vietnamese Cuisine. Known in Chinatown as the "landmark restaurant" and providing great food, excellent service all at an affordable price. You won't be disappointed.

Visit Houston Chinese Restaurants Guide for more restaurant lisitings and reviews throughout Houston.

CoCo's Cafe
4565 Hwy 6 South, Suite F
Sugar Land, TX 77478
(Next to Welfarm)

The Scene:
Located next to Welfarm Supermarket in Sugar Land, CoCo's Cafe has a nice cozy cafe ambience and is a great place to just hang out. From the famous local snacks to the authentic full course meals, Si-Fu-Lai offers different variety of Taiwanese food. My favorite dish is the sizzling black pepper steak; this unique style cooking of steak was originally invented in Taiwan’s famous night market. For $5.75, you can have a plate of medium rare steak (about 8 to 10 oz), with the black pepper sauce poured on top. This plate also come with noodle or rice, one sunny side up egg, and baby corn or other vegetable. Si-Fu-Lai also provides sizzling fried chicken steak and pork chop, and they taste just as good. I also recommend the seafood toaster. This is very famous southern Taiwanese style chowder. The original name is called “mini-coffin” in Chinese, but now they have to rename it so customers would not be scared by the name. This creamy seafood chowder contains a lot of seafood and vegetable and soup is contained inside a fried toast box when ordered. Also one fried toast lid will be placed on top to close the fried toast box. Seafood toaster smells good and taste great with any dish you order. I recommend both dishes because the prices are fair and you can have either in less than 5 min after the order is placed.

Tay Do Chinese Vietnamese Restaurant
2529 Hwy. 6 South
Houston, TX 77082
(Located in Burlington Coat Factory shopping center)
Tele: 281-584-0097

Tay Do offers exquisite Chinese and Vietnamese dishes. A stylish chandelier hangs in the middle of the dining area while pictures of several old Sichuan cities hang on the walls. The atmosphere is familiar yet exotic. And we mean an entire meal. A meal includes a bowl of soup (hot and sour or egg drop), an egg roll, fried rice and of course the main dish (i.e. beef pepper steak). The portions are huge and you would probably need a to go box. Secondly, most of us associate cheap food with low quality. This is a misnomer here at Hunan Plus. Their food tastes great. If you are ever go to Chinatown, this is one place to stop by and try. You will definitely be saving money for other more important things.

Golden Room Thai Restaurant

Chinese Restaurant in Houston

Golden Room Restaurant
1209 Montrose Boulevard
Houston, TX 77023
Tele: 713-524-9614

The service is friendly and the atmosphere is very charming. It has the traditional Chinese food such as various types of fried rice, congee (porridge), noodles, and vermicelli. Located in the heart of Chinatown they also serve great sandwiches, hamburgers, steaks, and Southwestern Asian food. You may wonder why that you want to eat hamburgers here, and here is the catch. Their fish burger and pork chop burger is less greasy than your ordinary burger and the taste is unique. I also like the shrimp and egg chow fun (rice noodle). This is a large plate of flat rice noodle mixed egg drop. Plenty of shrimps and egg drop make this plate irresistibly delicious.

Please visit Chinese Restaurant in Houston for more indepth reviews and pictures of restaurants in Houston.

Houston Restaurant review update

Houston Restaurant Guide

Classic Kitchen Chinese Restaurant
9888 Bellaire Blvd. #108
Houston, TX 77036
This is the place to eat breakfast. The atmosphere is relaxing and classic. The interior deco has blended the past and the present. Old style lantern hanging beside the curtain and various Chinese tea pot collection on the wall are all in sync with the modern bar in the back.

The Food:
Looking at the menu, you may be overwhelmed by the drink selection they have. Tea Café’s drink is one of the biggest among the area. They have every hip/new age drink, possible from bubble teas to smoothies/shakes to juices. If you are hungry, they serve traditional Taiwanese dishes and snacks as well. This restaurant atmosphere is as good as its food. Very relaxing yet cool.

Heads Up:
Come on inside and order yourself a lunch combo with a drink and you can either hang out with your friends or enjoy lunch while watching ETT (東森新聞網) cable TV(Houston Chinese TV). Wireless internet access is also available. It has the traditional Chinese food such as various types of fried rice, congee (porridge), noodles, and vermicelli. They also serve great sandwiches, hamburgers, steaks, and Southwestern Asian food.

Houston Restaurant Review Update

Houston Restaurant Guide,Your Restaurants Resource

Classic Kitchen

9888 Bellaire Blvd. #108
Houston, TX 77036
This is the place to eat breakfast. Don’t forget to try the House special and Beijing style lamb hot pot, which are one of the best in town.

Houston Chinatown Web Portal

Tea.Cafe in Houston

Houston Restaurants Guide

Tea Cafe is on the corner of Diho plaza. Inside the store, you will see it is very nicely decorated. From the uniform golden oak table and chairs to the classical Chinese style teapot display on the wall and almond color curtain with the red lantern hanging on the side, this place is culturally balanced. The bubble tea tastes perfect, and the size of the drink is bigger than its competitors.

About Us Contact Us Terms of Use Advertise With Us Job Opportunities Sitemap
Copyright © 2005 ChinatownConnection.com. Houston Chinatown Portal.
